Đurađ Budimir je uspešno završio osnovne studije na Elektrotehničkom fakultetu Univerziteta u Beogradu, na profilu Elektronika i telekomunikacije i Poslediplomske studije na Elektrotehničkom fakultetu u Beogradu, smer Telekomunikacije. Od završetka osnovih studija do 1989. radi u nekoliko srpskih kompanija: Elektronska Industrija (EI), Vojno Tehnički Institut (VTI) i Institut za Mikrotalasnu Tehniku i Elektroniku (IMTEL). U septembru 1989. godine odlazi u Ujedinjeno Kraljevstvo na Elektrotehnički fakultet, Univerziteta u Leeds-u gde radi kao gostujući istraživač na razvoju mikrotalasnih filtara za primene u mobilnim radio cictemima. Na istom fakultetu nastavlja da radi i doktorat koji uspešno završava 1995. Od Marta 1994. godine zaposlen je u svojstvu post-doc istraživača u centru za telekomunikacije, Elektrotehničkog fakulteta, King’s College London, University of London, gde radi na dva EPSRC istraživačka projekta. Od januara 1997. zaposlen je na Elektrotehničkom fakultetu, Westminster Univerziteta u Londonu kao docent (lecturer). U februaru 2000. godine unapređen je u zvanje vanrednog profesora (senior lecturer), a u julu 2006. godine u zvanje Reader (zvanje koje je po rangu između vanrednog i redovnog profesora Univerziteta u Beogradu; ovo zvanje je u Americi i Kanadi u rangu redovnog profesora) u kome se i sada nalazi. Godine 1998. osniva i rukovodi sa istrazivačkom grupom pod nazivom Wireless Communications Research Group (WCRG) koja ima 6 stalno zaposlenih članova (3 Reader-a, jednog vanrednog profesora i dva docenta). Đurađ Budimir je, samostalno, značajno doprineo osavremenjivanju Laboratorije za bežične komunikacije na Univerzitetu Westminster u Londonu, tako da ona danas predstavlja jednu od bolje opremljenih univerzitetskih laboratorija iz ove oblasti. U proteklih 18 godina u laboratorijsku opremu je uloženo preko £600.000. Đurađ Budimir je radio i radi na razvojy i realizaciji treće, četvrte i pete generacije mobilnih radio sistema, uređaja za bežične mreže (WLAN, WPAN, UWB), bežičnix senzorskix mreža, IoT i M2M. Prema svojim dosadašnjim rezultatima spada u visoko rangirane svetske naučnike iz oblasti razvoja uređaja, podsistema i sistema za bežične mreže. Đ. Budimir ima intezivnu nacionalnu i internacionalnu saradnju, a posebno sa sledećim univerzitetima: University of Manchester, University of Loughborough, University of Essex, University College London, Imperial College London, University of Surrey, University of Sydney, University of Colorado at Boulder, The University of Pavia, Tehničkim fakultetom u Novom Sadu, Elektronskim Fakultetom u Nišu i Elektrotehničkim fakultetom u Beogradu. EPSRC, EU, The Royal Society, The Royal Academy of Engineering i The Nuffield Foundation uglavnom finansijski podržavaju/sponzorišu istraživačke aktivnosti WCRG grupe.

• Design of compact tunable and switchable filters and filtennas for multiband and multistandard wireless transceivers.
